Motion Passed!

Wednesday, August 20, 2025
Dear SLA Members,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to let you know that the motion in support of the plan to dissolve SLA has passed by a majority vote. This plan includes the statutory dissolution of our association, the settlement of all remaining debts, and the transfer of our membership and remaining assets to ASIS&T. We deeply appreciate your engagement and the time you took to participate in this important decision.

According to the audited results of the live poll, a total of 276 votes were cast by members in good standing. Of those, 270 were for the motion and 6 were against. The motion received the overwhelming support of 98% of those who voted.

This is a significant moment for SLA and much more needs to be done as we start this period of transition. We will be sharing more details with you in the coming days, including ways that you can take part in securing the legacy of the Special Libraries Association. Thank you again for your continued commitment and support of SLA.

With gratitude,

Hildy Dworkin, SLA President
